YanQing is a DPhil student and Shirley Scholar at the Oxford Internet Institute. YanQing’s research interests encompass the interdisciplinary fields of digital sociology, family sociology, media studies, and gender studies. Their doctoral research is centred on assessing the impact of AI-driven propaganda on public perceptions related to reproduction, reproductive healthcare, and child-rearing practices.
Prior to pursuing their DPhil, YanQing gained valuable experience as a journalist and multi-platform content creator, which has equipped them with a nuanced understanding of the power dynamics inherent in social media platforms. YanQing holds an MPhil in Multidisciplinary Gender Studies from the University of Cambridge Centre for Gender Studies and a BA (Hons) in Media and Communications from Cardiff University.
