New technologies suggest vast new geographies, from the economic geography of internet black markets to the development risks and opportunities online labour markets pose in the Global South.

At the OII, our researchers cast a critical eye on the questions that these geographies raise. They ask: How can the planetary labour market which has emerged from the internet be made fair? Does the internet strengthen or weaken historic global inequalities? How and why do new digital representations of place affect our actions?
