Living with Technology

Living with Technology

Full project title: Living with Technology: : The Friction, Disconnection and Joy of Digital Life

Overview

This project builds upon an ethnography of a digital detoxing community, which found that digital detoxers do indeed live with technology in day-to-day life, but shift their attitudes and aspirations around digital devices.

This research offers a new perspective to the existing stalemate between “good” and “bad” visions of digital technology, instead showcasing the ways in which people imagine technology to be harmful.

The project will disseminate key findings from this existing fieldwork, foregrounding personal relationships with technology which allow us to celebrate joyful, touching, and connecting digital experiences.
