Sabrina F. Norwood is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Online Environments and Well-being at the Oxford Internet Institute. Her research examines the impact of digital technologies on well-being, spanning two key projects: the Programme on Adolescent Well-being in the Digital Age and Capturing the Digital Footprints of Video Game Play. She also develops and tests interventions for reducing app usage using one sec.
Dr Norwood values user-donated data (both quantitative and qualitative) and aims to use these contributions to inform policy, guide intervention development, and enhance user experience wherever possible.
A central theme of her intervention work is maintaining a user-centred approach. Her current work is designed for individuals seeking support, rather than non-consensual restrictions. Her work prioritises autonomy and digital literacy to empower individuals by addressing their unique needs and equipping them with the skills and knowledge to become less reliant on the intervention over time.
Dr Norwood’s background includes clinical behavioural work with adolescents, market research in product development, and research on marginalised populations. She earned her undergraduate degree at Colorado State University, her master’s degree at Arizona State University, and her PhD at the University of Chester.
