Pekka Räsänen has been Professor of Economic Sociology at the University of Turku since 2010, where he serves as the Academic and Administrative Head of Unit. His previous roles include Senior Researcher at the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (HIIT) and Postdoctoral Researcher for the Finnish Research Council (Academy of Finland).

Räsänen has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications, including monographs, contributions to edited volumes, and articles in leading international journals. He has frequently given interviews and provided comments in newspapers and mainstream media.

Currently, he is working on an international monograph examining the evolving characteristics of hate speech in Finland and the U.S., with a focus on the context of the 2024 American presidential election.
