About

David Michael Kelly is a Planning Officer in the Executive Office of the United Nations Secretary-General, where he provides policy advice on emerging and frontier technology issues like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, outer space affairs and international digital cooperation.Mr. Kelly also coordinates cross-UN working groups on the internal and multilateral dimensions of cyber security and biorisk reduction, as well as on thematic issues like behavioural science, strategic foresight and the future of governance and ethics.Prior to joining the Office of the Secretary-General, Mr. Kelly served in humanitarian response, with a focus on innovation and communications. This included posts in Jerusalem, Rome, and New York, with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the UN World Food Programme.Mr. Kelly has a Masters degree in the Comparative Politics of Empires from the London School of Economics and a degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario. He lives with his family in New York.
