Abid is a DPhil student at Oxford Internet Institute, Pembroke College, supervised by Prof. Vili Lehdonvirta and Prof. Ralph Schroeder. His research aims to understand Digital Sovereignty, Cloud, and Data Centres. His DPhil research project is titled, “Towards Digital Sovereignty and Economic Development? Examining Indonesia’s Special Economic Zone in Cloud and Data Centres.”
Abid is a Bakrie Scholar Fellow with a DPhil scholarship from the Bakrie Centre Foundation (BCF), Indonesia. Abid previously worked for Oxford Information Labs (OXIL). Abid is also a former President of Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia Oxford (PPI Oxford).
Prior to joining OII, Abid studied for a dual master’s degree in International Affairs at Sciences Po, Paris and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He earned his Bachelor of Social Science at the Department of International Relations, Universitas Indonesia. Abid is also a junior researcher at Abdurrahman Wahid Centre for Peace and Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (AWCPH UI).
He is also a co-founder of Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia at Universitas Indonesia (FPCI UI) and LSESU Association for International Peace and Security (LSESU AIPS).
