What opportunities do new technologies and the internet pose for healthcare? In a digital world, the tools available to medicine are constantly evolving, allowing the development of new and innovative forms of care and treatment.
Research at the OII considers these opportunities and suggests new way to leverage technological innovation for health. Our projects consider a diverse set of potential tools, including the use of automation in general practice, network data for disease control, and big data to deepen our understanding of Alzheimer’s Disease.
This project will develop useful and responsible machine learning methods to achieve real-world early detection and personalised disease outcome prediction of inflammatory arthritis.
This project will collect and share detailed behavioural game data donated by players to help us understand how the quality and quantity of online play shapes human motivation and mental health.
This project builds on fieldwork at Camp Grounded’s digital detox, where people were fighting a sense of disenchantment in modern life. Focusing on the way devices are interwoven throughout our lives, it rethinks the role of technology in society.
