About

One of the outcomes of the UN-organised World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) was the establishment of a new forum for multi-stakeholder policy dialogue on Internet governance issues.

The first Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be convened in Athens from the 30th October to the 2nd November 2006 with the overall theme of ‘Internet Governance for Development’ and will be organised around the topics of openness, security, diversity and access.
