Engaging with the ‘Google Generation’

Date & Time:

About

The Prime Minister’s recent reference to the ‘Google generation’ acknowledges the challenges and opportunities raised for governments by the normalisation of the Internet era. For those who are used to shopping, talking, meeting people, even living a ‘Second Life’ online, traditional tools and methods of political engagement are not always appropriate, and are potentially alienating.

This workshop, organised by the OII in conjunction with the UK Cabinet Office, will consider the implications for governmental engagement with the public of emerging trends in online communication, such as the growing use of social networking tools and blogs, as well as identifying key innovations in online political engagement which have been employed within the UK and around the world.
