What you can see

The camera looks towards the south of St Giles, a street in central Oxford. The Victorian gothic Randolph Hotel is to the left, running down Beaumont Street. Directly opposite is the Taylor Institution Library, Oxford University’s library dedicated to the study of European languages. It is housed in one wing of the building that houses the Ashmolean Museum, the world’s first university museum – which is open to the public. Built in the 1840s, it was extended in the 1930s with a building behind the tree to the right of the frame.
