About the speaker
Liz Butterfield is Director and Founder of the Internet Safety Group (New Zealand). She has managed this non-profit organisation since 1998. The Internet Safety Group’s NetSafe Programme is New Zealand’s national cybersafety education initiative. A primary focus of the ISG is on the safety of children and young people, but the scope of the group’s work includes education for adults, parents, schools, businesses, government departments, city councils and community organisations. In 2003 she was given New Zealand’s NetGuide Magazine’s ‘Living Legend’ award for her contribution to the Internet industry. Also in 2003, she was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in recognition of her service to the community, especially her work on Internet safety.
