Clues to ICT4D Policies in Developing Countries: The Colombian Example

About the speaker
Diego Molano Vega was born in Tunja, Boyacá, where he attended high school; he holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from the Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogotá, Colombia, and a Master degree in Economics from the same university. He also holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), in Lausanne, Switzerland. Mr. Molano has held different multinational positions in countries such as Switzerland, United States and Spain, as well as high level positions in the private and public sector in Colombia. In August 6th of 2010, he was appointed ICT Minister in the Government of President Juan Manuel Santos, to define and implement the Colombia’s digital agenda. Diego Molano’s administration focuses on expanding the massive use of the internet in Colombia through The “Plan Vive Digital”, recognized as the best technology plan in the world by the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the most important event of the telecommunications industry.
