Overview

The ESRC funded project “Digital Citizenship and Surveillance Society” explores the nature, opportunities and challenges of digital citizenship in light of the governmental surveillance measures revealed by whistle-blower Edward Snowden. The project analyses four central themes: policy, technology, civil society, and news media.The project is hosted at the Cardiff School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies (JOMEC) at Cardiff University. The project investigators are: Dr Arne Hintz (Cardiff University), Dr Lina Dencik (Cardiff University), Prof Karin Wahl-Jorgensen (Cardiff University), Prof Ian Brown (Oxford University), Dr Michael Rogers (Technical University Delft).
