Josh Jaffe is a probationary PhD researcher in the Oxford OII’s part-time research DPhil in Information, Communication and the Social Sciences. In his professional capacity, Josh is also the Chief Security Officer for Dell’s consumer businesses. Prior to his tenure at Dell, he was the Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Daimler Mobility AG with accountability for the security of IT infrastructure in the 45 markets in which Daimler operates as well as its connected vehicle and mobility business lines. Josh’s other career experiences include the Director of Information Security Risk and Corporate Information Security Officer at Emerson Electric, a global manufacturing conglomerate with more than 1000 offices in greater than 100 countries. He also worked for Deloitte Consulting providing cyber security guidance to various Fortune 500 technology and financial services companies. Further, he possesses deep experience working in the U.S. Government Intelligence Community in both the CIA and NSA as well as the Electronic Intelligence Senior Steering Group.
Josh is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Partnership Against Cyber Crime and a leader in its work to measure and counter ransomware. He is also the President of the Global Center for Cyber Security, a non-profit organization focused on growing the Cyber Security talent base through education while expanding the access to Cyber Security careers to individuals who come from often overlooked communities. Josh also serves as a frequent advisor to technology startups and cyber-focused investors.
