About

Jie holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Management from the University of Manchester and has expanded her research interests to include media politics, the digital divide and inequalities, and platform governance. She has professional experiences in cloud architecting and software engineering, with a specialization in AI implementation, exploring digital infrastructure as an societal factor.

Her bachelor research was conducted with Prof. Tahir abbas Syed on the topic of the algorithmic management of gig platforms, and under the supervision of Dr. Pu Yan in the field of media research. In parallel with her academic activities, Jie accumulated industrial digital infrastructure knowledge working as solution architect in the enterprise and SMB teams of Google and Amazon.
