About

Gareth graduated from the University of Warwick with a BSc (Hons) in Economics, Politics and International Studies. He is now pursuing a MSc in Social Data Science (SDS) at the Oxford Internet Institute to explore how data science can enhance governance and policymaking, particularly in issues concerning security, economics, and social identity. Gareth is especially interested in utilising data science to counter AI-powered social bots that disseminate disinformation and manipulate public opinion, thereby safeguarding freedom of expression while maintaining social stability.

As a Public Service Commission Scholar from Singapore, Gareth intends to apply the skills acquired through the SDS programme in his future role as a Civil Service Officer, collaborating with domestic and international partners to create a safe and secure global cyberspace.

Research Interests

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Disinformation, Network Science, Social Bots, Political Discourse, Geopolitics, International Security, Economics, Public Policy.
