Lofred’s interests lie at the intersection of technology, philosophy and entrepreneurship. Before coming to the OII, he completed his MSc at the University of Montreal (Summa Cum Laude), worked at the European Commission and founded the Start-up Propind.
Lofred is a recognized expert on Digital Ethics. Currently, he serves as the unique Ethicist at the French Digital Council – a leading independent public body whose mission is to provide digital policy recommendations for the French Government and MPs.
More recently, he has co-written the chapter 5 “What Ethics for AI?” of the Villani’s report on Artificial Intelligence – the French national strategic roadmap on AI for the incoming decades.
He is also a researcher for the United Nations, Dynamic Coalition on Platform Responsibility which aims at fostering a cooperative multi-stakeholder effort in order elaborate concrete and interoperable solutions to protect platform-users’ human rights.
Before coming to the OII, he completed a B. A in Law and Political Science at the University Paris 13 (Summa Cum Laude) and an MSc in International Relations at the University of Montreal (Summa Cum Laude).
