Joseph Turow is Robert Lewis Shayon Professor of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School For Communication. His research on Americans’ understanding of online and offline privacy issues has received a lot of attention in academic, press and policy circles.

A 2005 New York Times Magazine article referred to Professor Turow as ‘probably the reigning academic expert on media fragmentation.’ His research on Americans’ understanding of online and offline privacy issues has received a lot of attention in academic, press and policy circles. He has authored eight books, edited five, and written more than 100 articles on mass media industries. A recent title is Niche Envy: Marketing Discrimination in the Digital Age (MIT Press, 2006).

For 2010, he was awarded an Astor Visiting Lectureship by Oxford University.
