About

Bruce Etling was a doctoral student at the University of Oxford and a Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. His research is focused on the impact of the Internet on politics, political participation, and collective action. He previously served as the Director of the Internet & Democracy Project at the Berkman Center where he co-authored a number of papers on the Russian Internet, foreign-language blogospheres, and the Internet and democracy. Prior to Berkman he was a Foreign Service Officer with the US Agency for International Development and served in Afghanistan, Russia, Cambodia, and Washington. He has a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and a BA in Russian, Slavic Studies, and International Studies from West Virginia University.
