Julian Huppert is the Member of Parliament for Cambridge. He was elected with a majority of nearly 7,000 in May 2010. As the only former practising research scientist in the Commons, Julian is a passionate advocate of evidence based policy and has campaigned on many digital issues.
Julian is a member of the Home Affairs Select Committee and worked extensively to ensure that certain parts of the poorly thought through Digital Economy Act were repealed, and to stop the invasive Communications Data Bill. He is a member of the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology and has previously campaigned to make coding a part of the national curriculum. Julian was also member of the Lib Dem Federal Policy Committee working group on Information Technology and Intellectual Property in 2010, and produced a policy paper on the issue.
