The scholarly community is experiencing some of the most profound changes in how it communicates its work since the establishing of the conventions for writing scientific papers. These changes are evident both in how community members communicate among themselves but also in how they communicate with external stakeholders, including funders and the wider public.
In this talk, Rob Procter briefly reviews the drivers for these changes, examine how scholars are adapting to them and concludes by discussing some of the challenges these changes raise for the future of scholarly communications and public trust in scholarly research.
