The Social Sciences Division at the University of Oxford has conferred the title of Associate Professor on Dr Victoria Nash in recognition of distinction in her field and her contributions to the research, teaching and administration of the OII.

The Social Sciences Division at the University of Oxford has conferred the title of Associate Professor on Dr Victoria Nash in recognition of distinction in her field and her contributions to the research, teaching and administration of the OII.

Professor Victoria Nash, Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the OII, focuses her research on information and technology policy, in particular how it is used to protect children and young people. With her expertise on information and technology policy, she has been invited to take on various advisory roles for government and policy makers and has played a central role in the development of the “internet harms” concept.

In teaching, she led the development of our Digital Era Government and Politics course and has developed and run two significant programmes: the two-week Internet Leadership Academy for policy makers and the 10-day Summer Doctoral Programme. Her contributions to teaching and research have been achieved in parallel with service as Deputy Director of the OII, an important role with responsibilities across the entire department.

Commenting on the conferment, Professor Philip Howard, Director of the Oxford Internet Institute, said:

“I’m delighted at this great news and I congratulate Vicki on this success.

“Vicki’s expertise on online harms and digital wellbeing has made her a trusted advisor to government, industry and civil society, and a prolific commentator in the UK and global media.”
