About

The success of UK e-Science initiatives requires that the computational resources they provide are effectively secured. However, security entails much more than ensuring that computer security systems are current and policies strengthened. Though it is often overlooked, human behaviour also plays a major role.

Drawing upon our research among users in the e-Science Grid community, we present findings that indicate areas where Grid computing security can be improved. We also note the importance of considering the usability of security in protecting computing resources. This has important implications, and presents opportunities for providing effective and secure e-Science technologies.
