About
In this talk I discuss our efforts to create a cyberinfrastructure that supports the study of mankind’s scholarly knowledge. I start with an introduction of the process of mapping scholarly data, an overview of commonly used metaphors and references systems, and a visual feast of large-scale maps of sciences and their exemplary usage. The main part of the talk describes the cyberinfrastructure that currently exists for this research and the cyberinfrastructure that will be needed to comprehensively analyze, model, and map all of science. I conclude with a list of challenges and opportunities.
