The Finnish government launched a randomised field experiment on an universal basic income in 2017. The experiment attracted considerable media attention globally.

In this talk, he will review the motivation for the experiment, practical and legal constraints of large-scale field experiments with public policy. He will also discuss what policy lessons can be drawn from the experiment.
