In this webinar, Funda Ustek-Spilda and Srujana Katta disucss the Fairwork Project, an action-research project at the Oxford Internet Institute.
At Fairwork, we research working conditions in the platform economy, in order to develop ‘fairness ratings’ for digital labour platforms like Uber and Deliveroo. We use these ratings as a lever to improve pay and conditions for platform workers. We also conduct research more broadly on platform work; we will also introduce our ongoing Covid-19 research, for which we have reviewed how more than 200 platforms in 40+ countries are protecting their workers and consumers during the pandemic.

Dr Funda Ustek-Spilda was a postdoctoral researcher and project manager on the Fairwork project at the Oxford Internet Institute.
DPhil Student
Srujana is a doctoral student at the OII and a member of the Fairwork Project. Her research focusses on digital labour, migration, and resistance.
