Alex Blandford (Linacre) is a 5th year part-time DPhil student in the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography (SAME) at Oxford, studying communities of civic technologies.
Civic technology projects try to create non-political online tools that use political data. Creating data about parliaments and governments is hard to do without bringing along the political context (and baggage) that created that data. In this talk, I will look at the ways that data is made, and the anxieties about its use, creation, reuse, and ownership drawing on my research with UK civic technology organisations, government and data organisations.
