Christine Hine has become one of the world’s experts on ‘virtual ethnography’ as the author of numerous publications relating to ethnographic methods for Internet research. A reader at the University of Surrey, Dr Hine’s research centres on the sociology of science and technology, including ethnographic studies of scientific culture, information technology and the Internet. President of the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology from 2004 to 2008. In this talk, she will discuss the use of ethnography for researching an embedded, embodied and everyday Internet.
