Two OII faculty members, Dr Sandra Wachter and Dr Greetje Corporaal, have been invited to join the World Economic Forum’s Global Futures Councils, established to provide thought leadership on key global challenges and the impact and governance of emerging technologies. Dr Wachter has been asked to join the council on Values, Ethics and Innovation, while Dr Corporaal will become a member of the council on the New Social Contract.

The World Economic Forum’s Global Future Councils are the world’s foremost interdisciplinary knowledge network dedicated to promoting innovative thinking to shape a sustainable and inclusive future for all. The Councils are invite-only and grouped into expertise-based, thematic councils.

‘I’m honoured to be asked to become a fellow of the World Economic Forum’s Global Futures Council on the New Social Contract,’ says Dr Corporaal. ‘I’ll advise on equity, inclusion, and the future of work to inform the Forum’s New Economic Agenda on realizing human-centric economic growth in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. I’m excited to contribute to this endeavor.’

Dr Wachter echoed this sentiment, saying, ‘I feel very honoured to be given the opportunity to advice the World Economic Forum on ethics and innovation. Together we will set the agenda to harvest the full potential of technology whilst guaranteeing responsible deployment. I look forward to this new challenge.’
