Alexsis is an experienced investor, board member, and innovation executive with expertise in mergers and acquisitions, technology, venture capital, and corporate finance. She has led multiple acquisitions, divestments, and IPOs across the software, consumer technology, and energy sectors.
Currently, she is a Visiting Policy Fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute at the University of Oxford. Her research investigates how generative AI can act as a rapid, transparent, and efficient method for identifying human biases that may result in suboptimal technology investment and hiring practices.
For the past decade, Alexsis has been the Managing Partner at Merian Ventures, an early-stage venture firm focused on investing in women-founded and co-founded companies in the US and UK. The fund’s investment focus is on consumer-facing technologies using artificial intelligence.
In addition to her professional roles, Alexsis established The Althea Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to advancing technology-driven initiatives in the fields of mental health, science, and education. In 2014, she founded WE Innovate, a STEM accelerator at Imperial College London, aimed at supporting female innovators through masterclasses and business mentoring. Since its inception, the program has empowered 500 women who have started 60 companies, enabling successful ventures in SaaS, healthcare, consumer technology, sustainability, and wearable diagnostics.
Alexsis is an advisory board member for The MIT Press, the Oxford Internet Institute, and the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Society. From 2016 to 2022, she served as a US-UK Fulbright Commissioner. She holds a Master of Science from MIT Sloan School, an MBA from Erasmus University, and a BA from the University of Texas at Austin.
