
Professor Pekka Himanen divides his time between being a Professor at the University of Art and Design, Helsinki, a Visiting Professor at the Oxford Internet Institute, and being a principal scientist at the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (a joint research center of the Helsinki University of Technology and Helsinki University). His best-known works on the information age are ‘The Hacker Ethic’ (2001) and ‘The Information Society and the Welfare State’ (with Manuel Castells). Himanen’s books have been translated into 20 languages.
