About

This talk will explore the nexus of technological innovation, geopolitics, and security. Drawing on his academic research into the rise of tech-enabled states and his practical experience advising political leaders at the Tony Blair Institute, Keegan McBride will examine three interconnected questions. First, how is technological innovation reshaping the structure of geopolitical competition, and what structures might states need to navigate this transformation? Second, what realistic strategies are available to middle powers as they navigate a world increasingly defined by US–China technological rivalry? Third, what future scenarios may leaders expect to encounter, and what strategies should they consider today to build secure, resilient, and prosperous positions for the future?

Dr. Keegan McBride is the Director for Science and Technology Policy at the Tony Blair Institute. He also serves as an Adjunct Senior Fellow in National Security and Technology at the Centre for a New American Security, a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for American Innovation, and a Fellow at the Hertie School’s Centre for Digital Governance. Prior to joining TBI, he was a lecturer in AI, Government, and Policy at the OII, University of Oxford.

This event is in person only.
