About

Yixin Chen is a DPhil student in Social Data Science at the Oxford Internet Institute. Yixin’s research focuses on large language models (LLMs) and socially aware AI, particularly in areas such as mental health, well-being, and the dynamics of online interactions. Her work includes fine-tuning and evaluating LLMs for empathy detection and intervention on social media, modelling self-disclosure in online communities, assessing risks associated with LLM-based agents, efficiently leveraging human feedback for AI alignment, and broader topics in AI for social good.

She holds an MSc in Data Science from the University of Oxford and a BS in information systems from Peking University. Her research is generously funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.
