Joe’s DPhil research examines disruption and innovation within the ‘PropTech’ industry and the global real estate market. In particular, he is interested in the market effects of of data analytics platforms which promise heightened accuracy and efficiency in the property valuation process. His research seeks to explain how such technologies are transforming investment practices, including by producing new global real estate assets and new processes of urbanisation.Joe originally worked for five years in architectural practice before pursuing a masters in urban geography. His masters research examined the technologies, cultures and politics of the volunteer-led recovery effort in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. More recently he has worked in market research, data analytics and publishing.
