Frank Webster (BA Dunelm, Sociology, 1972; MA Dunelm, Sociology, 1974; Ph.D. LSE, Sociology, 1978) was Professor of Sociology, Oxford Brookes University, 1990-98, and Professor of Sociology, University of Birmingham, 1999-2002. He is currently Professor of Sociology, City University, London and Visiting Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Tampere University. He has written extensively on information developments and information society issues for many years.
During 2002-03, Professor Webster worked on his new book, ‘Information, Capitalism and Uncertainty’ and undertook research in the area of democratisation and new media.
