About

Elly is an MSc student in Social Science of the Internet and a long-time technologist with a background in open source software development. Her research examines the digitisation of migration control infrastructure and how it affects the social and political dynamics of migration. She holds a BA in Sociology, Anthropology, and International Migration Studies from UCLA.

Research Interests

Technologies of border and migration control, automated decision making in government settings, broken data, digital ID, algorithmic fairness, public interest tech, qualitative and ethnographic methods.
