About

Not all young people are savvy and engaged Internet users, and some do not use the Internet at all. What implications does this have? This one day workshop at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford examines the complex array of reasons for low and discontinued Internet use by young people and assesses its impact on young people’s social and family lives, job opportunities, political participation and educational outlooks. It revisits and evaluates the academic debates surrounding digital inclusion and youth; and examines these debates in the context of the current policy and practice landscape in the UK.

This one day workshop will be limited to 20 invited participants, and will be based on short presentations from attendees and discussion sessions.

This workshop is an activity of the ‘Lapsed users of the Internet’ project at the OII, supported by a grant from the Nominet Trust.
