Elections are increasingly fought, won or lost online, and digital engagement is now a crucial element of party election strategy. In conversation with Dr Victoria Nash, Matthew McGregor, Political Director of Blue State Digital reflects on how we got to this point, and how digital strategy plays out in different political and cultural contexts. Drawing on experiences across a range of political campaigns, from the USA in 2008 and 2012 to national elections in Europe and even the forthcoming UK general election, this seminar offers insights into the ways in which social media are altering the way we select those who lead.
