Digital Policy Issues for the New Communications Bill

Date & Time:
10:00:00 - 16:00:00,
Friday 24 June, 2011

About

The Department of Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) plans to issue a Green Paper in the near future. It seems critical to address the new Communications Bill early in order to begin to inform the debate that should arise once the Green Paper is published. This forum will discuss the key issues that should be considered.

Attendees are invited to submit a one-page position paper to events@oii.ox.ac.uk before the 17th of June, which may be used to identify the key issues. Position papers will be collated for participants on the day, and used to shape the agenda. A key outcome of this meeting will be the identification of key issues that should be considered in relation to the Communications Bill, as well as possible meetings to follow up this discussion.

ESRC Research Seminar Series

The forum is part of the ESRC Research Seminar Series ‘Digital Policy: Connectivity, Creativity and Rights’ (RES-451-26-0849), which runs from 2011 to 2013, led by Prof. Gillian Youngs, University of Wales, Newport, with Dr Tracy Simmons, University of Leicester, Prof. Bill Dutton, Oxford Internet Institute, and Prof. Katharine Sarikakis, University of Vienna.
