She received her PhD (1996) and Doctoral Degree (2001) from the Institute of Linguistics, Moscow, Russia, in ‘Theory of Linguistics’. At the OII Professor Goroshko focused on the development of a new course on Computer-mediated Communication, which would cover the nature of CMC, including the Internet, by examining its use and effects in interpersonal, work, educational, and societal contexts, and became particularly interested in the impact of the Internet on language, exploring concepts such as e-English and e-Russian.
