Stefanie Boss is a Recognised DPhil Student at the Oxford Internet Institute, supervised by Dr Mohsen Mosleh as part of the OII Disinformation Lab, and affiliated with the Subversive Technologies Lab led by Dr Joss Wright. She holds an LLM in Information Law (cum laude) from the University of Amsterdam and an MSc in Economics from Radboud University, and is pursuing her PhD at the Institute for Information Law (IViR), University of Amsterdam. Her doctoral research examines how compliance, consensus building, and effective governance emerge in decentralized digital ecosystems where centralized authority is absent or structurally constrained, including community-based platforms such as Wikipedia and the Ethereum consensus mechanism. At OII, her research focuses on the effectiveness of community-based disinformation detection and content moderation, combining computational methods such as network analysis and NLP with empirical legal analysis to derive implications for platform regulation and decentralized governance design. |
