About

Nasrat is an Executive Assistant and Research Group Administrator at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), University of Oxford, where he provides high-level operational, administrative, and research coordination support to academic staff and research activities in the areas of AI, governance, and public policy. His role encompasses executive support, project and financial administration, stakeholder coordination, and assistance with the preparation of grant applications, progress reports, and academic outputs, ensuring compliance with University and funder requirements.

Prior to joining OII, Nasrat built over a decade of experience across international development and public sector reform within multilateral and donor-funded programmes. He served with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Afghanistan as a National Project Coordinator, leading Sub-Programme 4 on Research Trends and Impacts Analysis under the Regional Programme for Afghanistan and Neighbouring Countries, spanning eight countries in West and Central Asia. In this capacity, he coordinated research and policy initiatives and worked closely with UN agencies, donors, and government counterparts.

Earlier roles with the International Labour Organization (ILO), Democracy International, and USAID and US Embassy involved supporting skills development, institutional reform, governance initiatives, and evidence-based policymaking. Across these positions, he oversaw administrative, financial, and reporting processes and contributed to applied research and reform initiatives in complex and fragile contexts.

A Chevening Scholar, Nasrat holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford and an MBA from Southampton Solent University. He brings extensive experience in programme administration, research coordination, policy advisory work, and capacity building, with a particular interest in the interface between evidence, governance, and institutional practice.
