About

Anthea joined the OII in 2024 as Head of Communications and External Affairs. She is passionate about communicating research, engaging and inspiring audiences, and building partnerships with impact.

Prior to joining the OII, Anthea held senior communications roles across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, working for organisations including the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, WRAP, Cranfield University, Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, and Blackwell Publishers. Her expertise lies in building the reputation of research-based organisations and engaging diverse audiences with their work.

Anthea also has a background in journalism and was a regular contributor to the Independent. She is the co-author of From Bright Sparks to Brilliant Businesses (Bloomsbury), a book that profiles Oxford University science spin-out companies.
