Sarah Thomas was appointed Bodley’s Librarian in February 2007, becoming the first woman and non-British citizen to hold the position in 400 years. Among many honours, in 2010, under her leadership, the Bodleian Libraries were awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for the excellence of their collections and their efforts, along with six other cultural heritage entities of the University of Oxford, in widening access to their historic collections. This webcast provides her response to Dame Lynne Brindley’s lecture on the future of research libraries. Dame Lynne Brindley is the Former Chief Executive of the British Library. Sarah was joined, as a respondent, by Christine Borgman, the Presidential Chair in Information Studies at UCLA, and Oliver Smithies Visiting Fellow and Lecturer at Balliol College (2012-13).
