Teaching
We offer teaching to Oxford students on the development of the Internet and its effects on society. All students at the University are welcome to use our library and to attend our events.
As well as offering degrees at Masters and Doctoral level, our faculty are available to help supervision of doctoral students admitted to other Oxford University departments (please contact us for details). Oxford students interested in cyber issues can join the students mailing list to receive news of OII events and the activities of our students.
New MSc course
Our ten-month residential MSc in Social Science of the Internet enables students from a wide variety of backgrounds to take Internet-related courses in law, policy and other social sciences in the context of this dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary department.
The MSc will provide core theoretical and methodological training for students with a basic background in law and policy, the social sciences, or computer and engineering sciences, and offer more specialist options in areas of the OII's expertise.
The application process for 2010/11 entry will open in October 2009.
Doctoral teaching
The doctoral programme (DPhil) in Information, Communication and the Social Sciences is offered to students wishing to undertake groundbreaking, detailed study of the Internet and its social impact. Students are encouraged to ask original, concrete questions and to adopt incisive methodologies for exploring them, in order to help positively shape the development of digital networked space and those whose lives are affected by it.
The application process for 2010/11 entry will open in October 2009.
Summer Doctoral Programme (SDP)
Our Summer Doctoral Programme provides top doctoral students from around the world with the opportunity to work for a few intensive weeks with leading figures in Internet research.
