Overview

This project was the first stage in the establishment of a Virtual Observatory for the Study of Online Networks - a Grid-enabled research environment facilitating cutting-edge and internationally collaborative research into the existence and impact of social and political networks on the Internet.

In addition to the development of prototype Grid-enabled software that will power 'VOSON', we established international linkages with researchers who are interested in using the software, collaborating in its further development and hosting VOSON nodes at their respective institutions. The prototype software was tested via a collaborative 'demonstrator' research project involving leading researchers from Australia, the UK and the US.
