Ralph Schroeder was formerly Professor in the School of Technology Management and Economics at Chalmers University in Gothenburg (Sweden). He completed his PhD about Max Weber at the LSE in 1988. His publications include Possible Worlds: The Social Dynamic of Virtual Reality Technology (Boulder, CO: Westview, 1996), as editor, The Social Life of Avatars: Presence and Interaction in Shared Virtual Environments (Springer, 2002), and Rethinking Science, Technology and Social Change (Stanford University Press, 2007).
He is currently working on shared virtual environments and on the social implications of e-science.
