The library is open Monday to Friday (09.00-16.50) during Term and Vacation. The library is closed on all public holidays, as well as for:

Borrowing and renewing

The library is open to all University members holding a Bodleian card. Visitors from outside the University may use the library if the Enquiries Assistant is notified.

Books (excluding reference books and journals) can be borrowed for up to seven days and renewed the first time via OLIS, by phone or in person: books must be brought in for any subsequent renewals.

Borrowing rights may be temporarily suspended if more than two overdue notices have been sent or if fines are outstanding. Overdue books are fined at 25p per day up to a maximum of £10. Books may not be reserved.

Library use, facilities and access

Library users have access to computer terminals, Internet and University Ethernet (via WiFi and Ethernet port). Photocopying, printing and scanning services are available (7p for A4, 10p for A3: books for copying must be submitted to staff at Reception and will be copied overnight).

Library users must comply with copyright law and with Oxford University Computer Usage Rules and Etiquette. No food or drink is to be consumed in the library, and mobile phones should be switched off or turned to silent.

The library (and toilet) are on the ground floor and are wheelchair-accessible. Ramp access can be provided at the St Giles entrance to the OII.
