Abstract

With the help of three metaphors, Professor Floridi shall outline the nature and scope of Information Ethics, the new philosophical area of research that investigates the ethical impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on human life and society. In the course of the presentation, Professor Floridi shall introduce some of the topics he has analysed in his book, 'The Ethics of Information' (OUP 2013) [URL: http://ukcatalogue.oup.com/product/9780199641321.do#.UTXMZXxOpkg], a book in which he has sought to provide the conceptual foundations of Information Ethics.

This event will be followed by a short drinks reception and the opportunity to purchase 'The Ethics of Information'.
